CLASSIC ALBUMS: THE DOORS

Eagle Rock, 88 minutes, M A DD 2.0 stereo R 16:9 widescreen

Even ordinary albums come over as interesting in this series, so when you have a genuine classic, as the Doors' debut surely is, things are very tickety-boo. And that's even with a surfeit of frothing praise from various talking heads. As usual it's the breakdown of the songs, seeing how the pieces fit together, that are the highlights. Fortunately for the band originally, and for us now, the three remaining members are smart, articulate and not confined to ordinary rock ideas (even the often hippie-dippy Ray Manzarek rewards). You may be surprised to see hard man Henry Rollins gushing but remember almost all boys have their Doors period in their mid-teens. And we don't necessarily let it go.

Extras Unscreened material.
